Help needed… TASKS pre-event (ASAP)
- Publicity Committee:
- Fundraising Committee:
- Someone to review and update our contact list ASAP
- Co-coordinator or assistance with the Cardboard Car Derby (Formula EGP)
- Creative people to help groups with the development of their interactive portions
- Creative people and artists to help design the ECOlibrium and grounds décor (includes designing signage)
- Artists (including muralists)
- Carpenters (interactive exhibits; signage; six – eight Q & A Panel boards-(perhaps like stand alone sandwich boards with many little flaps to open);
- Teams to help line up donation items (scrap wood, blenders and screens for paper making, etc.)
- Literacy Area (enviro. kids books to business books):
- Need to help with the interactive Lorax and Wartville Wizard (muralists and activities)
- Creation of a walking tour map (work with Keith Jones)
Find a donor for 25 lbs of songbird seed; assemble packets and staple a card with EcoFest info on it (to use in promotion leading up to event)
- First Aid – notify emergency people in case needed; Lining up First Aid Station
- Develop environmental math questions where they may to figure
COORDINATORS or Co-coordinators/ assistance with the following areas:
Technology area
- wireless computers (maybe at each area? or in one particular tent) – allow for people to use computers to play environmental games (e.g., from the energy dept., etc.) and learn about other good internet sites for environmental educations (for ALL ages)
- Technology for other areas as needed (what does each area need or plan to use…must know power needs)
- Line up Tech
- Transportation area: needs power point and two screens;
- PA System for each end of the park
- 6-8 Walkie Talkies
Energy Area:
- Need to contact Hydro Power Plant in NLR and come up with an interactive exhibit for it
- Need to contact both coal and anti-coal representatives. We are looking for all sides to be represented but it must interactive to be in the ECOlibrium (balanced education area—including the economic side);
- Need to locate real chunks of coal, bauxite and whatever other resources you can get your hands on.
- Bio-mass and (safe) alternative energy sources need to be represented (Wind and ConwayCorp. Will be there)
Cardboard Car Derby –
- rallying teams;
- arriving at awards/catagories;
- registration table-liability waivers;
- set up course on the CHSW campus; get timers, cones, and straw bales if necessary;
- creating the look of a Car Derby (?)
- Coordinate the Hybrid-type Car/Truck and hopefully we can find some AG equipment, too
Food Vendors (we are trying not to do fried foods-criteria needs to be finalized); determine power/water needs;
Volunteer’s hospitality area
Environmental Health area - organizer
Natural Resource area: Maybe help develop a habitat area for animals in the– see George Harper ;
Kami Marsh/Randy Romeo (alternative, see Debbie)
FIND Jugglers and Magicians
TASKS: Pre- EVENT
- Preparing paper for the Paper cone area for food service (see Whitney) –may need to see about end rolls of newspaper for this.
- Some one to arrange 2-3 electric carts to haul things across the street from the CHSW to Laurel Park
- (e.g. maybe ice or ??)
- Construction of flip panel for questions (8-12 questions per panel; 6 panels that will stand up when people when people lift small doors (to see answers) … maybe on a sandwich board type of set up??
- Directional signs (like Earth Day’s); (art class?)
- Design ECOlibrium signs with the logo partners and top two tier sponsors around the sides; prepare signs with exhibit sponsors name (and brief what they are doing to be green) and what the name of the exhibit
- Assistance with Cardboard Car Derby and/or Car Show (also, maybe engineers could work with the Boys and Girls club to help them create a car for the Derby-think they may be interested but won’t know about the engineering part)
- volunteer hospitality area
- 6-8 water coolers for participants (line up paper cups - back-up ONLY – will encourage people use reusable cups)
- 6-8 Walkie TalkiesTents and necessary lighting (we think we have but may need some backups)
- Design and prepare puzzle pieces (to show connections between areas); distribution to exhibitors
Many volunteers will be need for set up and day of event tasks as well.
TASKS: Last few days of event
- General Volunteers to help with each section ………
- Exhibit liaison on the day of event; Distribute puzzle pieces
- Assistance with set up and tear down
- Water (cold) ;
- Registration tables – Making sure that all necessary waivers have been signed by participants
- 6-8 water coolers for participants (line up paper cups - back-up ONLY – will encourage people use reusable cups)
- Tour Guides (Maybe Morning Rotary)

- Waste/Recycling at event
