The Conway EcoFest 2010 kick-off meeting for community members, exhibitors and those interested in education and sustainable issues will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the Faulkner County Library. Participants will learn about the plans for the 2010 event, and be encouraged to share and coordinate ideas, talents or contacts.
The event will take a broad and balanced look at environmental issues. Similar to a science and/or children’s museum, it is a connected series of highly interactive exhibits that engage people. It also helps participants understand the environmental connections within our own community, and the relationships that each issue has to each other and to our daily lives. The event is designed for people of all ages and interests.
Last year’s inaugural event was a great success, and this year several new exhibits are being planned. Volunteers and educators are crucial to making this an exciting, comprehensive educational event for our community. Co-organizer Whitney Beckham explained that a diverse group of people with varied talents, interests and ideas are encouraged to attend this meeting. Photos of some of the 2009 exhibits can be found on the Web site, according to Kathy Rumbo, EcoFest Web coordinator.
