WHERE WE BEGAN
We began in 2009 as a grassroots movement of community members/ nontraditional educators in support of Conway’s new Recycling program. Our goal was to assist the community in understanding the new program, its benefits, and its positive impact on the environment. Our goal was to inform the public of ecological challenges and efforts being made to overcome and divert trash from our landfill. As we continued to reach the community, especially those who may not have sought out information on their own, we found much opportunity to grow awareness existed.
We became a 501c3 nonprofit and have grown into what is today's Conway EcoFest, an annual outdoor environmental festival where fun and environmental education meet. As a working board, we volunteer and collaborate with individuals and organizations to bring together exhibitors, vendors, artists, and business owners who conduct preservation, sustainability, and innovation practices that work to improve the environment. We collaborate with civic groups, municipalities, educators, STEAM groups, Museums, Nonprofits, and individuals to highlight their actions in an interactive way that educates the public on how their daily lives directly interact and impact the environment.
WHERE WE ARE HEADED
We are in the early stages of planning a 3-5 year strategy that will increase our visibility within the community on a quarterly basis. To grow the Festival into a multiple day event, perhaps full weekend. To work with the City in a meaningful way to support its efforts to improve the healthy growth of Conway and Central Arkansas. We are looking for supporters who are motivated and desire to be active with support of development and implementation of new initiatives as determined by the board.
